BOMBA ESTEREO (Colombia)

Time: 21:00 hrs.

It is a musical group from Colombia that fuses electronic music, reggae and rap with the Caribbean tunes of its own country, like cumbia and champeta.
2005 was the birth-year for the Bomba Estéreo Project, an initiative of Simón Mejía, who had already structured Charconautas and AM770. His proposal was framed in a musical exploration lab, generating Colombian style rock, and editing Volumen 1, a debut album
Liliana Saumet, a vocalist born in Santa Marta, Colombia, joined the Project for recording "Huepajé" for the same album, co-authoring the lyrics for many songs. Saumet lent the vocal proposal a particular character, fusing rap with the traditional Colombia-Caribbean song.
Bomba Estereo alternated presentations with groups as Calle 13, La 33, and Choc Quib Town, but at the end of 2008, offered Estalla, an album edited by Polen Records and, for the English- speaking market, by the National Records label under the title of Blow Up. 2009 saw the promotion of their single “Fuego”, presented in Europe, Brazil, Japan and the USA.
That same summer, the group appeared at the Latin American Music Conference, LAMC, yearly presented in New York, being praised by the critic in the prestigious New York Times.
Their song “Fuego” was included in the soundtrack of the FIFA 10 videogame.
